Gorgeous Self-Warming Cat Bed

November 7, 2019 By Joi

Cats often have different ideas about the thermostat than their humans. I’m pretty sure cats would be perfectly content if the temperature stayed 80 degrees year-round.

Since most of us have little intention of living (or sleeping – can you imagine?!) in an 80 degree house, that leaves cats forever looking for a warm place to curl up and go to sleep. Whether it’s clothes from the dryer, the top of the refrigerator, or a spot in the sun, the best place to sleep to a cat is the warmest spot they can find.

That’s why heated beds are so popular with cats – they must feel, to them, like a nice comfy bed feels to us after a long day.

My favorite thing about the gorgeous heated cat bed, pictured on the left, is the fact that it’s “self-warming,” meaning there are no cords to worry about near your little one(s).

Features:

  • A layer of self-warming material in the pillow that reflects pet’s own body heat to generate warmth.
  • Cozy pet bed has a soft, ultra-plush sleeping area and fluffy polyester fiber filling for snuggling.
  • Round dog bed with raised sides creates a feeling of safety and a roomy sleeping spot for nesting.
  • Non-slip bottom with rubber dots stays put on any floors to ensure the stability.
  • Detachable, reversible, one-side water-resistant sleeping cushion provides all year round comfort

Heated Cat Bed: Your Cat Told Me it Wanted One This Winter… Badly!

December 11, 2011 By Joi

Keep your outside cat warm this winter with this wonderfully affordable Heated Cat Bed.  This beauty is available on Amazon for a purrfectly reasonable price.  Outside cats will appreciate the extra warmth and comfort provided by a great heated cat bed such as this.

Inside cats would also feel extra pampered (and warm!) with a heated cat bed – especially older cats who may have a little arthritis.  Many older cats will do their best to find the warmest places in the house simply because it makes their achy little bones feel better. Providing them with their own heated little cat bed just makes a lot of sense…. plus it’s a loving thing for a cat parent to do!

Keeping Outdoor Cats Warm this Winter

October 29, 2010 By Joi

Lucky Charms January 5 2017 b

Lucky Charms

Brrrrrr… it has already cooled off considerably and thoughts have turned to keeping our outside cats warm.  As you know, we have one inside diva extraordinaire (Alexa).  She claims “squatting rights” and insists that our other cats remain outdoors.  Truth be told, outdoors is all 3 of them know and they’re just wild enough to flip if we ever did try to bring them indoors.

I remember one year we were having a HORRIBLE storm and I was scared for our outdoor cat (Svenn).  He was also what you’d consider pretty “wild,” but I brought him in anyway.  After all, he was my wild baby and I wasn’t going to let anything happen to him.

He went NUTS.

He ran into the sliding doors – he screamed and meowed like he were being tortured and no amount of coddling or baby talk would calm him down.  I honestly thought he was going to have a heart attack!

Needless to say, I haven’t made that mistake since.

My husband keeps our garage door opened just enough for our cats to get inside (and short possums, but they seldom go in for long).  Fortunately we don’t use our garage for anything except storing Christmas decorations, yard work supplies, and other seasonal knick knacks – so the cats consider it a large, wonderful winter home.

Pretty soon, my husband will grab a bale or two of straw and put it up in the loft of the garage.  I’ve climbed up there before and am amazed at how warm it stays with the straw and old blankets.  Of course, when spring rolls around, I have a ton of sweeping and cleaning to do but…. are you kidding me, it’s SO worth it to keep my babies warm and comfortable!

I’ve been looking on Amazon this morning at some items Hannah, Jelly Bean, Queen Fatima, and Bullet would like in their winter home and I found the K&H Outdoor Heated Kitty Pad with Fleece Cover (pictured here) that they will love. Fortunately, they’re affordable, because we’re going to need four!

The Perfect Cat Bed for Your Very Pampered Cat!

August 4, 2008 By Joi

The Heated Cat Bed.

My evening on the cold, hard floor a few nights ago made me think a lot about a cat’s comfort. Prissy’s days of lying on the couch and beds, because of her blindness and age, are a thing of the past. Not only does it seem to bring her discomfort to jump – I’m scared to death she’d fall. So I’ve created her a plush, pillowy bed in the kitchen near her food. I’ve actually created a little bedroom for her, with walls, pillows, and a stuffed Bugs Bunny (she loves him muchly – Emily says it’s her boyfriend, the strong silent type).

I think we should all put ourselves in our pet’s place. We should ask ourselves how we’d want to be treated if we were the pet – what sort of bed would we want to sleep in (warm, clean, safe, and soft), what sort of water would we want to drink (always fresh, please!), etc.

You’ll notice that I post a great deal about pet beds on this blog. That’s because I believe every pet should have a wonderful, soft bed – especially older pets, since they spend SO much time there! Plus, their little bodies can be full of aches, so the softer, plusher, and warmer this bed is, the more comfortable they’ll be.

The Heated Cat Bed you see pictured above is an answer to a cat’s prayers. Recommended by veterinarians, this comfortable and therapeutic bed for cats is gently heated to soothe older pets and those with physical conditions such as arthritis.

The bed stays at a constant 102 deg F, which is the bed temperature suitable for most pets. The 4-watt heater has two intelligent thermostats that sense and maintain the bed’s optimal temperature. The soft micro suede cover is removable and washable; lined interior is coral fabric to evenly distribute warmth, with a cushioned orthopedic polyurethane foam base.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Magic of Cats

Chicken Soup for the Soul’s wonderfully entertaining and inspirational The Magic of Cats. My oldest daughter, Emily, has a story about one of my grandcats (“Eddie”) in this collection!

MinJee

Beautiful “MinJee”
We have inside and outside cats and we love them all like family. The beauty, above, is MinJee and she is as sweet as she is gorgeous.

If the spoiled inside crew would allow it, needless to say they’d ALL be inside. As it is, our outside cats have their own custom-built wooden homes and penthouses and, yes, they are all equipped with heating pads for the cold months.

We also feed and care for feral cats. Some honor us by following us home and allowing us to give them a forever home and to, more importantly, be their forever family.
