Curly Pet Catnip Mouse Toy

This colorful (and cute!) cat toy is the Curly Pet Catnip Mouse Toy and it’d make a purr-fect Valentine’s Day gift for your cat. Not only does the catnip make this cat toy irresistible, it makes a crinkly sound that drives cats wild.

The fact that it has catnip means that your furriest little valentine will fall in love with it immediately and the love will be a forever and always type of love. Ironically, as I’m typing these words, Alexa is actually sleeping a couple of feet from me with one of her favorite catnip toys between her front paws. She must have fallen asleep while playing with it.

Cat Food Dispenser Ball

This is too cute. The FDA-approved PetSafe SlimCat Food Distributor Ball, Blue is ideal for cats! They are such inquisitive little beings – this will delight and amuse them again and again.  Cats love to play, hunt, and eat and this food distributor ball allows them to do all three.  The interactive “toy” provides exercise, which for most indoor cats, is a much needed and welcomed provision!

You simply fill the SlimCat with .67 cup of dry cat food. Adjust the hole in the SlimCat to let one piece of food pass through easily. As your cat chases and bats the SlimCat around the room, one piece of food at a time will exit the ball. This allows you to control how fast your pet eats and provide him with hours of stimulating play. Small portions several times a day will improve his digestion. The SlimCat also satisfies your cat’s inherent need to hunt.

To clean, simply wash the plastic SlimCat in your dishwasher or with hot soapy water.

Cat Toy

This morning I missed a one in a million camera opportunities with Alexa.  I was walking across the kitchen floor in a “must have coffee” stupor when she caught my eye.  She was obviously stalking something, which always leads to two questions:

  1. Mouse?!?!?
  2. Have one of my youngest daughter’s hamsters or guinea pigs gotten loose?

Either option would involve me running (either in the opposite direction if it proved to be number 1 and toward the escapee in rescue mode if it were number 2).  As I was weighing my options, She leaped into the air and did a pirouette that any ballerina would be jealous of.  It hit me then that it was a moth she was having so much fun with.  Stalking, jumping, showing off her speed, agility, and beautiful grace.

Then she ate him.

Grace flew out the window.. the moth, not so much.

She was having so much fun for those brief moments that I HAD to look around a few of my favorite websites for cat toys that would simulate this sort of fun and reckless abandonment. I found the perfect thing, the Go Cat Teaser Cat Catcher Wand Cat Toy (46″ Length), pictured above.

Take it from someone who spends oodles of time playing with cats, the Petstages Green Magic Boomerang Buddy is a kitty party just waiting to happen.

Like all kids, cats LOVE new and original toys. They love when mom and dad present them with something fresh, fun, and fabulous – you know, something deserving of their attention!

The Green Magic Boomerang Buddy is filled with 100% premium catnip for a powerful catnip scent, meaning your cat(s) will be over the moon.

Remember, playing with your cat isn’t just fun for you, it’s wonderful fun for you cat.  It’s also very good for his or her health – physical, emotional, and mental. Cats need the stimulation to stay mentally fit and the exercise keeps them physically fit and healthy.  Playtime is also a very special time to bond with your cat, so be sure to make time several times a day to just lose yourself in your cat’s world.

Earlier today, I was sitting outside with our outside cats (Hannah, Jelly Bean, and Queen Fatima).  I was playing with Hannah (with a long wildflower).  She’d paw at it, then go behind my back and pounce on it.  As you may remember, Jelly Bean and Queen Fatima were FERAL kittens when they came into our family.  It took months of extreme patience to get them to the point that I could even touch them! Thankfully, today I’m able to pet, rub, and babytalk them just as easily as I can Hannah or Alexa.

However, they’d never shown any inclination to play.  They’d always watch me and Hannah.  They’d sit right beside me, allowing me to pet them – and they’d even purr the entire time, but they never actually caught on to PLAY.

Until today.

As I slowly drug the wildflower on the ground in front of Queen Fatima (a tiny, adorable little grey cat), she pounced on it – kind of catching herself off guard.  I have no idea why, but tears sprang in my eyes as I tried not to laugh too loudly (they’re still really jumpy).  When I passed it in front of her again, she swatted at it and looked at Hannah as though to say, “Am I doing it right?”

Jelly Bean came over and decided to take part as well.  The only problem was, he decided to lay down right on top of our wildflower!

Game over.

He rolled over, exposing his belly, so of course I had to tickle it.  He playfully grabbed my hand, and I was very thankful he left his claws in.  I gotta admit, I was a little nervous.  I’ve tried to get pictures of them to add to the site, but they don’t pose nearly as well as Hannah and Alexa do.  They still aren’t sure about the whole camera thing and I’m not about to push things with them.  I’ve seen a lot of feral cats than NEVER let people touch them, I just feel extra blessed that my babies have come this far!

ETHICAL/SPOT SPRING DING CAT TOYS ASSORTED

Presenting your precious cat with a new toy is every bit as fun and rewarding as presenting a child with a new toy. And why not, our pets are our babies after all! Not only are cat toys fun for cats to play with – giving them entertainment and enjoyment, cat toys are also vital to a cat’s health. They provide a little exercise for your cat (or a lot, depending upon your cat’s energy level!).

Cat toys also keep an inside cat, who doesn’t have other cats or dogs to play with, from getting bored. They keep her mind active and provide a level of the unexpected that she craves nearly as much as she craves tuna. Nearly.

I recently bought Alexa a new toy and she has delighted herself with it for hours since.

Her favorite toys are balls and she’s absolutely on top of the kitty world when we’re in the floor playing baseball. I roll it to her and she swats it with her paw back toward me. She can’t be bothered with running the bases, of course, because she’s conserving her energy and has been since she was a day old.

She also doesn’t go for any “loose” balls if I happen to roll it too far to the left or too far to the right. It’s up to me to retrieve all of these, as well as the ones she swats pass me.

I get quite a workout crawling around like a 12 month old.

Alexa has a toy box (actually a basket) that she loves to grab toys from – but, of course (like all kids) she never puts them back. That’s also left to me.

Cats just love toys like the ETHICAL/SPOT SPRING DING CAT TOYS ASSORTED above. Alexa has this adorable cat toy pegged as the next addition to her toy collection.

Since she is one pampered little girl, it’s jut a matter of time. I look forward to chasing this cute little cat toy around… and then putting it back where it goes.

One of us has to.

*** Cat Toy Safety: Be sure to examine your cat’s toys for pieces that have come loose – small parts that could choke your cat. Also, never allow anything near your cat that she could get wrapped around her neck.

Alexa once had, somehow, found a long paper ribbon left over from Christmas. She managed to get part of it down her throat and was as struggling to pull it out. Thanks be to God, I happened to be walking through the room at the time and pulled it out.

Cat House - 21 in. x 15 in. x 21 in.
I can’t even tell you how much I love this little
Cat House
. It’s 21 in. x 15 in. x 21 in. and ready to move in.

From the Website:

You’ve heard of a dog house, now how about a carpeted, cozy indoor house for your favorite feline? This carpeted house is purrfect for your lovable cat, and the larger size is great if your pet wants to bring along some feline friends for a house party.

The only thing is, we’d need a duplex because Prissy would absolutely love it – but there’s NO WAY Alexa wouldn’t crawl in right on top of her.

That, I’m afraid wouldn’t go over terribly well. Poor little Prissy’s nerves aren’t what they used to be. Sometimes she’ll hiss at Alexa just for breathing her air. I’ve told her that’s unreasonable and borderlines on the “B” word but she just kind of huffs at me.

What I’m thinking is that we should buy one, then we can use my husband can use it as a guide for us him to make a similar one.

I’ll run it by him later. He’ll think I’m terribly brilliant batty.

Have an amazing Labor day weekend with your cat! – Joi

Cat 'N' Mouse Cat Powered Cat Toy (9.75

You and your cat will have hours upon hours of fun playing with the Cat ‘N’ Mouse Cat Powered Cat Toy (9.75″ W X 2.5″ H) from Petco. My cats and I speak from experience! From my vantage point, there’s nothing quite like seeing my babies having so much fun – they look so incredibly cute when they’re plotting to finally get the elusive mouse!

Just a swat of the cat’s paw sends the little mouse racing in circles inside this durable plastic toy.

The sisal pad on top is great for clawing and scratching – two of Alexa’s favorite pastimes. Right up there with eating and bird watching.  I’ve noticed that my cats absolutely love having their own toys.  You can practially “feel” Alexa’s excitement and joy each evening when I get on the floor with her and we gather her favorite toys around.  Sometimes, I’ll intentionally “forget” one and she’ll walk over to it and look back at me – it’s her way of making sure all the toys make it to the party!

It’ll come as no surprise to you when I say that I look forward to our play time as much as she does.

Prissy, when she was younger, also loved to play. She’d get so excited, she’d go on what we called “rips” – where she’d run through the house, jumping on every piece of furniture she could find – only to return to where you and her toys were.  Then she’d lay down, calmly and look at you like, “What?

Alexa’s not much of a runner, though.

Svenn and Bo are more about giving and getting affection than they are playing.  However, after they feel like their head rubbing, nose kissing, and back stroking quota has been met, they love a good game of swatting and/or chasing toys.  Svenn isn’t too terribly quick – if he possesses any speed, he’s conserving it, but Bo and Alexa’s reactions are amazingly fast.

I just happened to glance over at Alexa, who is sleeping nearby.  She’s totally out of it, resting up, no doubt for our evening play.  When I go to the grocery store in a few minutes, I’m going to buy her a new toy (one with catnip oughta make her delirious), then I’ll spring it on her when the toys are being gathered up.

I love the way her eyes get wider when something new shows up!
