Pause for Prissy

“Thousands of years ago, cats were worshiped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this.” – Anonymous

Okay, worshiping may be carrying it a bit too far, but I caught myself doing something yesterday that made me stop and think.

My family runs several online business that keep us…well…online and busy for most of the day. I was scurrying from point A to point B yesterday when I whizzed by one of our beloved cats, Prissy. She’s a long-haired, slightly overweight, 16 year old beauty who isn’t accustomed to being whizzed by. Ever.

I realized that maybe I’d been passing by her a bit too much lately. I promptly put down everything I was carrying, laid aside my “busy plans”, and laid right down on the ground with one of my greatest loves.

I scratched her chin, she purred. I rubbed her head, she purred. I lied that she was losing weight, she purred.
After about 5 minutes, she decided that she was needed elsewhere, in the vicinity of her food dish, so I returned to my work. Funny thing, it’s always waiting for me when I get back. In fact, I returned with more creativity and energy than I had before.

The break did me every bit as much good as it did Prissy. I just might be due for another one. As soon as she gets through eating. If she gets through eating.
