Snarly Carly

Carly!

See the beautiful cat in the pic? She’s even prettier in person - beautiful, bright green eyes and amazingly colorful markings….she even has a pretty name and a lyrical meow. We all absolutely love her, as we do all of our cats, to sheer distraction.

BUT, while we’re being honest, I may as well go on record as saying that Carly is a ravenous hunter, has a cantankerous disposition, growls like a Pit Bull (heck, a Pit Bull wouldn’t stand a chance with her), is very choosy about when she’ll allow herself to be rubbed or talked to, and had rather fight alligators than be held.

When she was a kitten, and even up to the age of 2, we always kept triple antibiotic on the counter in the kitchen. We knew we’d need it throughout the day - more than once. We also bought more band aids during that time than all the other years of our lives combined!

Sure, she’s a child of hell, as the Bible would refer to her - but she’s OUR child of hell and we wouldn’t take anything for her. Besides, she has calmed down a little since having her kittens. We were just thrilled when she actually cared for them, we were all watching her closely - every time she bathed them, I suspected that she was just tenderizing them. I’d breath a sigh of relief when the licks weren’t followed by bites. I guess my little girl’s growing up.

When she gets hungry and wildlife is in short supply, she sits on the kitchen window and howls like a wolf. Gosh, I love that cat.

Uh oh, she’s there now. I have a she devil to feed, so you’ll excuse me if I bail. Wait isn’t in her vocabulary.

[…] Gosh, I love that cat. In the spirit of Halloween, I thought I’d post this scary pic of Carly. Yesterday was an overachieving day for her - she caught two mice, ran off one cat (Thanks be to God that it wasn’t one of her own kittens) and growled at 3 people and 2 of her babies. Busy day. […]

[…] He made it past the one month mark, so we have a new addition to the feline family. Usually, Carly runs visitors off inside of a week (cats, rabbits, possum, dogs….). But this little red head has endured her growls, hisses, smacks, and chases. She’s treed him like a hundred times and has chased him around the house twice as often. […]

[…] So, I took a bit of advice the author gave for dealing with elderly cats and tried it out. I sprinkled a little garlic powder on some cat food that had been sitting overnight. Svengali and Bo dove in like it was fresh salmon from a stream! I’m sure the other cat’s would’ve shared their enthusiasm, but two were at another dish and one was still terrorizing field mice. (One clue, her name starts with Carly!) […]

[…] As I’ve said in previous posts, we’ve been battling a very grouchy little cat around our house. Carly has, for some time now, been extremely asocial and agressive toward other cats, even to her own kittens. […]

[…] My daughter, Steph, took this great pic of Carly yesterday. Thankfully, regardless of how it looks, Carly was actually in the middle of a yawn. When Steph showed me the picture, my first question was, “Who was she after?” I was afraid that some other poor defenseless cat was on the other side of her attitude. […]

[…] I just saw this on my fave poster site. Too freakin’ cute! Alexa has a stuffed Pokemon she loves… Carly used to have a stuffed chicken, but she’d kill me for bringing that up. […]

[…] How freakin’ cute is this one?!?! The kittens remind me a lot of Carly’s kittens - getting into absolutely everything. Big difference, though, with the mother cat’s reaction - Carly would’ve been causing trouble, not just calmly watching. […]
