Protecting Kitty’s Vision

I’ve spent an entire lifetime with cats and had (I thought) devoured
every bit of cat knowledge there was. But, lo and behold, I came
across something yesterday that I never knew. It actually doesn’t
apply to me, but it will to a lot of people.
Did you know that you should not feed dog food to your cat? As a
matter of fact, anything outside of cat food could lead to your cat
going blind. Cat food containes taurine which is critical to your
cat’s eyesight.
I’ve known lots of animal lovers who have both cats and dogs and in an
effort to cut a few dollars, will just buy dog food - letting kitty
eat the leftovers. First of all, cats aren’t the “leftover” type, and
second of all - they aren’t getting all that they need this way.
I do give our cats “treats” - like fish and chicken (tuna is to them
what coffee is to me - essential!), but their main diet is cat food.
For a few of them, who are little pigs, LOTS of cat food is their main
diet.
