It’s All in the Smell!

Taking a cue from one of the books I recently read about (and subsequently blogged about), I decided to try something out on our cats.

You know how a cat will sometimes leave her food sitting on a plate and then won’t eat it after awhile? I’d always chalked it up to severe picky-itis. Then, after reading, I started thinking that maybe it has something to do with the food losing it’s scent.

So, I took a bit of advice the author gave for dealing with elderly cats and tried it out. I sprinkled a little garlic powder on some cat food that had been sitting overnight. Svengali and Bo dove in like it was fresh salmon from a stream! I’m sure the other cat’s would’ve shared their enthusiasm, but two were at another dish and one was still terrorizing field mice. (One clue, her name starts with Carly!)

This little food trick ought to save quite a bit of money in the long run. There’s power in reading.
