How Early Can You Have Your Cat “Fixed”?

I’ve been doing this research myself lately because we have 4 kittens that we’d like to have taken care of (as in a neutering for two and a spaying for one) as soon as possible. We live in a pretty rural setting, complete with more trees than some forests and we love cats to distraction - but for their own well-being, we want them “fixed” as soon as their able to be “fixed”.

I’ve found that a lot of vets recommend having kittens brought in for the surgery between 6 - 12 weeks. I thought this seemed ridiculously young, but the experts cite benefits such as a quicker recovery time, less traumatic surgery, and fewer complications.

That all sounds like reason enough to me to have them neutered and spayed early. Our babies are nearly at the right age, then, so it looks like they have a doctor’s visit coming up!
