Feng Shui for Your Cat?

Feng Shui for Cats: By Cats, for Cats

I’ve been reading a great deal about Feng Shui lately - for another one of my blogs, Chinese Wisdom. Being a Kentuckian, I feel like I’m a world away from being Chinese, but I absolutely love the beauty, grace, and serenity of so many aspects of their history, art, and culture.

I’m amazed at the teachings of Feng Shui. So much of it makes such sense that it’s a wonder everyone, everywhere doesn’t practice it in some form or another. I left the section of my bookstore where the Feng Shui books were grouped and went to the pet book’s aisle. I kind of got a kick out of seeing a book on the subject in with the cat books. I leafed through it and was utterly fascinated.

Publisher’s Synopsis:

If feng shui’s good for you, it must be good for your cat! After all, what creature could possibly be more sensitive to its environment than the majestic and fastidious feline? If cats had a choice they’d make sure to create the perfect space — but, unfortunately, their humans keep getting in the way. Don’t let that happen to your pet.

If your territory’s too cold, too dark, or — worst of all — without enough food, remedy it immediately with the ancient art of feng shui. Follow the basic principles given in this marvelously (and amusingly) illustrated book, written by cats and for cats! Consider this: the chi, or life force, affects every aspect of life Compass directions also have great meaning in feng shui — hence the need to sleep in an eastward-facing room in the morning as the sun rises. And don’t ever put an object in the wrong area! No discerning cat wants to sleep in the space devoted to relationships (which would destroy friendships with humans and other cats) or have a litterbox in the zone reserved for wealth.

Find out what changes to make in your home, symbolic animals, healing remedies, and the eight areas of the Pah Kwa (encompassing fame and fortune, wisdom and experience, kittens and family, relationships, new beginnings, pleasure and indulgence. and health and happiness). Your cat will thank you for it!

I love the line, “After all, what creature could possibly be more sensitive to its environment than the majestic and fastidious feline? ” - that’s so totally and completely true! They’re so sensitive to even the slightest thing being “off.” Prissy even acts differently if someone in the house is sick - she seems to know something isn’t quite right in her world, and she isn’t herself until everyone’s al well again.

I hope you and your furry loved ones had an AMAZING 4th of July!!!!
