Catnip Candies

Catnip is encased in soft fleece and shaped to resemble pieces of candy. They’d be perfect for a cat lover’s gift basket, as well as a pleasant surprise for your feline baby! These would actually be pretty easy to make, wouldn’t they? If you had the materials and a minimal amount of sewing ability, that is.

Each of our cats get totally silly in the presence of catnip - especially Alexa and Bo. Adam is generally only interested in things that fall under the heading of food, Prissy has little time in her day for anything aside from sleeping, eating, and lap hopping, and Svenn has become too much of a lover boy to care about anything aside from female cats. In fact, he brought home a very young female cat about a month ago and she’s still with us - so it looks like we have an addition to the family.

I say “brought home,” but he actually treed her. (Not much of a romantic, my Svenn.) I had to coax her down, fortunately she’s unusually sweet and friendly, so she shimmied down right to me. She was incredibly skinny - the skinniest cat I’ve ever seen. She’s a hugger - Whenever she’s picked up, she positions herself to where each one of her little paws are on a side of your neck. Then she stays there, locked in a hug purring loudly for as long as you let her. Being the cat lovers we are, that’s a pretty long time!

We named her Renee Elise (her name’s bigger than she is) and I’ll be posting pics of our new baby later today! She’ll need to be spayed like Alexa recently was - I just wanted her to put a little weight on first. Fortunately, she does weigh more now - Whiskas never fails! She’s a lot healthier looking, too, with a beatiful shiny black coat. Even her big emerald eyes are brighter. Her meow is a loud one, one of the loudest I’ve heard from a non-Siamese. She and Svenn are both pretty loud when they want to be…..and that’s usually around breakfast or dinner.
